Blog: Hoop Atlanta Event

Statement

On Saturday, Team Cagle and the Lt. Governor had a great time participating at the HOOP Atlanta event. HOOP Atlanta is an event organized by the Health Education & Communication Center of Atlanta. The event raises awareness to improve children's health by implementing a health literacy program and gives them an opportunity to get active in sports. The event sponsored dozens of basketball tournaments for all ages and included a Youth Sports & Health Expo. Children earned tickets at the Health Expo by demonstrating knowledge about health and wellness which gave them access to the tournament and other competitions.

As a part of my ongoing efforts to raise awareness about youth health in Georgia, I was honored to participate in the Halftime show alongside former Atlanta Brave Brian Jordan. After being paired up with our youth partners, we participated in some fun games and made a lot of new friends along the way. I want to applaud HOOP Atlanta for their ongoing efforts in stemming child obesity in Georgia ad look forward to working with them on promoting more health initiatives aimed at our youth.
